Sugar Cookies

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup Butter Flavor Crisco shortening
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Cream together butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs and blend well.

Sift together the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Add flour mixture to the creamed mixture. Add vanilla extract and chill dough for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Roll dough on a floured pastry cloth to 1/4-inch thickness. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove immediately and let cool on wire racks.

Makes approximately 6 dozen cookies. Depends on the size of the cookie cutter. Makes even more if doing spritz cookies.
